Donors roll up for Bronson appeal
NOTHING will bring back the family of Bronson Simpson but over the weekend the Gold Coast community pulled together to help make the little boy's life just a bit easier.
The two-year-old is being raised by his doting grandparents John and Julie Simpson after the death of his mother Tania Simpson, 31, his five-year-old sister Kyla and his mother's friend Antony Way at the hands of his father Paul Rogers, who committed suicide.
In a heartfelt move, brothers Doug and David Kirby bowled for a marathon 24 hours at the AMF Bowling Centre at Robina Town Centre, starting at 6am Saturday (Qld) and finally finishing yesterday at 6am.
The fundraising event was organised by Bronson's teacher, Narelle Myers at Smarter Kids Kindergarten.
"I have tallied the cash and cheques from this weekend and the total is $7568.65; how wonderful is that?" Ms Myers said.
"We still have pledges and sponsoring to tally and more money to come in from other places over the next few weeks.
"We have totalled to over $20,000 so far with the money from the fundraiser that I did back in July this year and this fundraiser.
"So let's hope it keeps rising higher and higher."
